PARMA, Ohio — A monster first half for the Pirates melted into a collective second-half misfire, as Rocky River lost to Parma, 60-55, in Great Lakes Conference action on Wednesday night.
Bouncing back from a 7-0 Parma run at the outset, Rocky River scored 17 unanswered points on its way to building a 37-25 halftime lead. But the River offense would go cold in the second half, and the host Redmen locked up the win with a second-half strong performance from beyond the 3-point arc.
The loss marked the Pirates’ first of the season in circuit play. Rocky River (5-5, 3-1 GLC) now enters a tough one-two stretch against Elyria Catholic and Bay, two GLC foes that went into Wednesday’s action with a combined conference mark of 7-1. The first of those two games will be on Saturday (RR vs. EC, 2 p.m. at Rocky River Gymnasium).
Parma (3-7, 1-3) snapped a two-game losing streak with the victory. The Redmen had lost 4-of-their-previous-5.
River’s 55 points marked a single-game high this season.
