ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Rocky River dropped a 3-2 decision to Amherst Steele on Thursday.
The Comets won two singles matches and a doubles match in dealing the Pirates their first loss since March 30. Rocky River’s wins were earned by Jack Bowers, a 6-1, 6-1 victory at second singles, and by the tandem of Julian Clark and Christian Devorace (6-1, 6-1) at first doubles.
Bowers’ victory marked his team-leading seventh of the season; the freshman is now 7-2 over nine singles matches.
The Pirates (5-5) are now 1-2 over a trio of one-game matches this season.
The Maroon & White are slated to continue their season with a home match against North Olmsted on Tuesday (Tri-City Park, 2 p.m.).
