PARMA, Ohio –Rocky River dropped a 13-3 decision to Normandy in Great Lakes Conference action on Wednesday.
The host Invaders led wire-to-wire, scoring three runs in the first and failing to score in just one inning for the game. Rocky River (5-10, 3-4 Great Lakes Conference) was out-hit, 16-6, in the Nike Park contest which spelled a season sweep for Normandy. The Invaders beat the Pirates, 19-13, in Rocky River on April 16.
River’s offense Wednesday was comprised of a solo run in the third and a pair of runs in the fifth. Freshman Lindsay Hartman went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles. Hartman and Catie Wolons single, reach on error) were the only River batters to reach twice in a contest controlled by Normandy pitching.
Wolons and Katie Mommers (single in three trips) each kept hit streaks alive on Wednesday. Mommers has hit safely in all 15 of the Pirates’ games this season. Wolons owns a nine-game hit streak dating back to April 9.
The Maroon & White are scheduled to resume their 2019 season at Wellington on Friday (4:30 p.m.).
