SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio – Rocky River fell to Hathaway Brown, 18-7, on Wednesday.
A talented Blazer squad peppered the River cage with 12 first-half goals. The Pirates (9-7) were held to just two goals over the same stretch.
“This was a tough game,” said Head Coach Lizz Steinmetz. “HB was dominant on the draw, and it was tough for us to establish possession time.”
For the game, Rocky River was led by Ella Nejad (two goals, two ground balls), Lauren Cain (two goals), Sam Miller (goal, four ground balls) and Ellie Duncan (goal, assist).
HB’s 18 goals mark the most the Pirates have yielded in a single game this season.
“We’ll move forward,” said Steinmetz. “We’ll fix mistakes and become a better team.”
The next game for the Striped Buccaneers is slated for Saturday (6:30 p.m. vs. Wooster, Rocky River Stadium). The contest against the Generals will mark Senior Night for the Rocky River Girls’ Lacrosse program.
